The Onset of Obesity
1. Obesity can occur at any age. Pregnancy is a common trigger factor.
2. Juvenile onset obesity (i.e. obesity which starts in childhood) is more difficult to change than adult onset obesity. Those who were overweight as children usually identify with a fat personality. Sometimes the thought of being thin is terrifying and this may contribute towards an ongoing battle with weight. This does not, however, stop them wanting to become thin.
